I personally loved the old notifications, its not that the new ones arent good, its just that the old ones are so much more unique and seamless with the rest of the bar.
will there be any option to use the old version?

I understand you. It was a tough decision, but it had to be made. Old notifications interfered with the notch, causing the visible module to change when using it. Now that the compact notch includes new features, this approach was necessary.

I don’t plan to bring back the old notifications, even as an option, unless someone comes up with an elegant solution that preserves that style without making the system frustrating like before.

Of course, it was better suited, but it was poorly designed in terms of functionality.
For example, if you were using the Dashboard or searching for a program in the launcher and received a notification, the notification would take over. You'd have to wait for it to time out or close it manually before reopening the module you were using.

Additionally, the timeouts weren’t working correctly. If a notification appeared and you opened a module, the notch would close after the notification’s timeout expired, even if it wasn’t visible. While this could be fixed, implementing a system that properly handled both notifications and modules inside the notch was still challenging.

If you have any suggestions for a better design, I’m all ears (or eyes, since I’m reading).

I know this might sound naive, but what if we had a system where if a module was already open then the notification gets displayed in the new style as a drop down and if no module is currently being displayed in the notch then the notification would be displayed in the old form. A possible edge case to this solution though, is if the notification is being displayed in the old form and you wanted to access a certain module(app launcher) then the notification would disappear. A possible solution to that would be if a module is opened when the notification timer still hasn't finished then display a notification in the new form but with a much shorter timeout. Another solution would be simply to instantly kill the notification and have it appear on the dashboard page instead if the user missed the notification and wanted to see it again. Again, take this comment with a grain of salt since I have zero idea of how to implement any of this :(

That was the first implementation I did when redesigning the notifications, but the problem is that now the notch in its compact form also has functionalities, so notifications still get in the way.
