Hello! We are VAUV!
We are Vellore Institute of Technology's only Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) team.
Our team consists of passionate undergraduate engineers from diverse disciplines who have independently designed, built, and programmed our first underwater vehicle. We are driven by a shared vision of participating in leading international and national underwater robotics competitions.
- Designs and builds the AUV's structural and mechanical components.
- Ensures durability through Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Manufactures parts in-house with 0.005-inch precision.
- Conducts underwater pressure and performance testing up to 50 feet.
- Integrates the AUV's entire electrical system.
- Designs and fabricates custom PCBs for modular functionality.
- Implements efficient battery management systems.
- Prioritizes reliability and maintainability through modular architecture.
- Develops and refines the AUV's control systems and autonomy stack.
- Implements advanced computer vision, localization, and state estimation.
- Actively participates in competitions with our software stack.
- Contributes to the open-source community by sharing code and insights.
- Oversees daily operations and internal coordination.
- Manages social media, branding, and sponsor engagement.
- Handles all technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
- Ensures smooth operation and effective external representation of the team.
We specialize in:
- Autonomous navigation and mission planning
- Underwater perception using cameras and sensors
- Embedded system integration and testing
- Full-stack development of intelligent underwater robots
