Possibilty to use the reveal debugger on lattice diamond?

Hi Anthony,
i use also a FTDI mini module with the FT2232 Interface for a while now. Today I wanted to test if i can use the reveal debugger on my FPGA design with Lattice Diamond IDE (MachXO2). Unfortunatelly the scan doesn't shows the FTDI. Have you been able to debug with this approch?
I'm curious about your answer.

Hi,

I never used my own programmer board with Lattice's Reveal because my experience with Reveal is quite awful, even with the official Lattice cable I have at work.

However, I once used this evaluation board from Lattice. I remember I got Reveal up and running (after a lot of struggling with the tools). Take a look at the schematic in the board's user guide: you'll see it uses an on-board FT2232H chip for programming, the same as in your FTDI mini module.

So, it is possible to debug using this chip. From my experience, the Lattice tools don't check for special signatures in the EEPROM when using an FTDI chip - at least not during programming.

Are you able to upload a bitstream to the FPGA using Diamond Programmer and your mini module? Also, if you have other programs open that might use FTDI devices, make sure to close them before starting Diamond.
