Re.Pack with Expo CNG + Router

A while back in issue #906 I mentioned that I managed to get Expo CNG and Expo Router working with Re.Pack, although it's not possible to use either EAS or Expo CLI, having the possibility to use Re.Pack's speed with the convenience of Expo Router + CNG is very good. I decided then to compile everything I know in a post on my blog.

But basically it consists of:

• Replacing the Expo CLI with the React Native CLI (which uses Re.Pack) in production through an Expo configuration plugin
• Adding a proxy configuration that maps .expo/.virtual-module-entry.bundle to index.bundle in development
• Configuring the application root with an internal Expo Router API instead of using the qualified-entry import
• Adding some ENVs that are required by expo-router (such as EXPO_PROJECT_ROOT, EXPO_ROUTER_APP_ROOT, etc.)

I don't think it makes sense to put this in the Re.Pack documentation since it wouldn't have official support, but I think it's cool to at least have it documented here in the repository discussions! What do you think?

I think it can very much be mentioned in our official documentation and I'm definitely going to mention this in the release blogpost for Re.Pack 5.2 that I'm currently writing 👀

Should the PR contain a new plugin, a configuration in the existing expo plugin, or just a mention in the documentation?

Depends on you - if you would like to contribute a whole plugin like repack-plugin-expo-modules then I'll happily take a look! But a documentation entry is also a great start 💯

Opened a draft PR @jbroma. I've added a new @callstack/repack-plugin-expo (I don't know if it should be called plugin-expo or plugin-expo-router since the CNG configuration plugin is valid for managed expo apps that don't rely on expo router as well). I didn't add docs yet
