New view mode: full-window map without JupyterLab controls

Use case

The classic notebook view almost provides a full screen map view in JupyterGIS lite although its width is limited at the moment.

It'd be great to have an actual, easily accessible full-screen mode for the map because that could be the basis, an entrypoint of dashboard-style map applications deployed with JuptyerGIS.

Preferred solution

Maybe a full-screen button in the map, then a true full-screen view with the appropriate css and a path/configuration to have this as the default view, and maybe a ui element (that can be deactivated if only the full-screen view is needed) to link back to lab from that full-screen view would be sufficient.

Yes, I think I expressed it overly complicated. The goal is to immediately have the full-screen map show up under a specific link/path, without clicking on full-screen or navigating otherwise. If this is the only view required, it would be nice to be able to lock the view to this, or remove any ui elements that would link back to the lab or tree views.

OK I think I got you; instead of (or in addition to?) true full-screen, i.e. every single pixel on the physical screen, you're thinking of the whole browser window with no other content else present, correct? So you'd still see the URL bar, bookmarks, etc. but not any JupyterLab components.

Do you think it's also worthwhile to offer "true" full-screen?

From our discussion with Matthias, what we want is to have https://jupytergis.readthedocs.io/en/latest/lite/edit/?path=RTC%3Aearthquakes.jGIS take the full width of the page (depending on your zoom level you may not see it, but when you're zooming out on a wide screen you see how this page doesn't take the full available space).

And it'd be good to have the left/right panels controls in that page as well. #760

Split off #763 for the simple approach of enabling a "true fullscreen" control. Let's call the other part of this feature something else... 🤔
