Google calendar item run as a task

Thank you very much for the awesome app. Now I can see my Google Calendar items in Super Productivity. How can I control (start / stop) the Google Calendar items as the normal Super Productivity tasks?

Hi @johannesjo, alternatively, you can read the google calendar item title only and let the user add the desired one into Super Productivity by typing the first couple of letters. Super Productivity can complete the task title automatically as per the google calendar item title.

Regarding the conversion of Google Calendar items to SP tasks, I like the approach by Toggl Track:

• Display the Calendar item as read-only in Timeline section, as SP is currently doing.
• Allow a right click option to open a menu with different ways of interacting with the GC item. The most desirable action is probably to start tracking time. This will create a new task whose title is taken from the event title, and notes taken from the event description. Things like projects and tags can be added later.

Essentially, we'll treat the GC item and the SP tasks as two different things. Integrating a time tracker with a calendar service is always highly requested, but it's tricky because the former tracks what really happened while the latter tracks what we expect to happen. Treating them as two separate entities is one way to mitigate the headache.

Hey @bytrangle I like the idea! The only problem I see is that this is a google calendar only solution, but that's ok with me. In case someone wants to work on this I am all for adding something like this.

The last activity on this issue was in 2022. I'm checking on it in September, 2025, because I'd like to be able to operate on the imported tasks from Google Calendar in the same way as tasks produced through the Super Productivity interface.

I'm even given the option to convert to task, but when I choose it, nothing happens. Has any further development been done on this issue?

You can import your calendar items as tasks, when you provide a calendar url. It's only one way though.
