Usage with external k3s instance #336

This isn't really an issue but the repository doesn't have discussions enabled, therefore I'm opening an issue.
I'd like to know if it should be possible to use this plugin with an existing k3s or other k8s instance that isn't spawned through the k3s:run goal. I'd essentially like to know if one can use this plugin only as a client for k3s, without running an agent within a Docker container.
Is the skipRun property of the k3s:run goal perhaps meant for these kind of use cases? 🤔
It's been a while since I've properly dealt with k3s (or k8s in general) therefore I'd appreciate any kind of help, otherwise I might have already figured it out by now 😅
