No Serial module with ESP32C3 custom hardware

I'm working on a custom hardware variant based on a esp32-c3-devkitm-1. While testing it I noticed that I could not get the Serial module to work at all. I can see the debug info coming out of the UART just fine, but when I turn on the Serial Module, nothing shows up. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
