The CNCF provides services to assist projects with the creation of logos and other resources. The process for working with their team is initiated by filling out this form

The individual assigned would take the lead in the coordination with the CNCF on the overall design process and work with the community to review all proposed designs including final versions.

Linux Foundation Project Logo Design Brief: ModelPack

The Linux Foundation Creative Services team is excited to be partnering with you in the development and design of your project brand. We will provide you with three (3) concepts based on the information below, and the ideal scenario is to select one of the concepts, and through one to two (1-2) revision rounds, end up with a final approved design.

In the instance that there are multiple stakeholders who will make the final decision, please ensure that the information below accurately reflects the collective expectations for the visual brand from all key stakeholders.

Final Due Date

The date that the logo needs to be signed off and packaged by.

Initial Concept Due Date

The date that you need to receive the initial concepts by. This should be based on the anticipated time required for review and feedback by stakeholders. The standard tends to be 2-3 weeks, but it can be done in as quickly as a single day if needed.

Describe Your Project/Technology

Provide a (short) 1 to 2 sentence elevator pitch about the project or technology. Do your best to write it as if you were explaining it to someone who is not familiar with the technology industry, or a small child.

The CNCF ModelPack project is an open standard that makes it easy to share and run AI models across different cloud systems. It moves AI models out of closed, vendor-specific formats into a common, compatible format that works with nearly any modern cloud tool. It’s conceptually similar to the difference between Microsoft Word’s .doc format (which only works with the Microsoft ecosystem) and a .pdf format which works with nearly every vendor and tool. PDFs are the defacto way to share documents when you don’t know what tools people will use - ModelPacks will be the same for sharing AI models and projects.

Terminology

List three (3) terms/adjectives that describe your project or technology. These will be used to help define the visual brand and will be used when selecting typefaces, designing iconography, etc.

• Interoperable: emphasizing connectivity, compatibility, and seamless integration
• Easy: emphasizing simplicity, ease-of-use, and integration with existing tools
• Robust: emphasizing stability, reliability, and readiness for production environments

Design Style

We need a Wordmark (text) and Logo.

Color Palette

Provide your color choices in priority order. If you would like to use a gradient, please identify the potential color combination(s).

1. primary gradient of slate blue (#5B7DB1) to sky mist (#DCE8F2)
2. amber accent: #F4A259
3. charcoal anchor: #2E3A43

Logo Designs You Like

List two to three (2-3) brands that resonate with you. It could be because of the choice of typeface, or the color palette, or something unique about the brand.

• The rounded typeface of fluentd and cilium
• The logo of CubeFS and OpenKruise
• Simplicity of Contour, Crossplane, Strimzi, and Karmada

Competition

List any competitive brands that need to be avoided visually and why.

• Artifact Hub and Buildpacks.io: also deal with artifacts but have a very different purpose so we don’t want people to get confused
• Docker, Quay.io, and JFrog: container registries that shouldn’t be confused with this project since they don't handle AI projects as OCI artifacts
