Good afternoon @sanketverma1704 , Just to clarify—are you looking for help applying for the GPU credits specifically through GitHub, or are you exploring other sources as well for the Zarr-Python project? |
Right now, Zarr-Python is using GitHub's hosted GPU runners for CI. Best case scenario is that we can keep doing that. |
Gotcha, you want to be billed for these credits for the year using Zarr-Python project funds ? or is this a request to help receive funding to get these credits for the year ? |
The latter. We want to request funding for the credits. |
@sanketverma1704 What is the estimate that you would be needing for the year ? Currently assuming $200/month x 12 Months = $2,400 |
I think if we round it up to $2500, we'd be good for a year. |
Okay I will follow up with some higher ups and get back to you |
Our Project Resource Lead Mariel Kanene should be reaching out to you shortly via email or this issues chat to get more details and with next steps to help you get the funding. |
Thanks, @adaviesNumfocus! |
Thanks for escalating this @adaviesNumfocus. Hi @sanketverma1704, we're looking into how we can best support Projects with this request to access or raise funds for additional GPU credits (given this is an increasingly common request from projects in our ecosystem). We've reached out to GitHub to see what options might be available to us and hope to have something more to report soon. Additionally, the Infrastructure Committee has recently acquired access to "free-to-us" compute resources via the NSF ACCESS program. They are seeking interested NumFOCUS projects to come forward if they believe access to such resources could benefit them in the short, medium, or long-term future. If you think this aligns with the needs of Zarr-Python -- please complete the form here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScTmvGE-rRNNX-hNd8oNt_DgOsq9N-F_YKx3cKXDzZ7obkGdg/viewform |

Observations
We want to request GPU credits for Zarr-Python. Currently, we're utilising ~$200 per month via GitHub's GPU hosted runners.
If possible, we would like to request credits for a year.
