managing subspecies when making a datelife query

Currently all subspecific variants are processed and searched in the same way as species.
However, this can narrow teh results of a search. See the vignette http://phylotastic.org/datelife/articles/make_datelife_query.html

It would be nice to add the option to drop subspecific/variant epithets and perform a more general search
