ACM requires to install libertinus-fonts which is not automatically detected because the font file is LibertinusMath-Regular.otf: https://ctan.org/tex-archive/fonts/libertinus-fonts/otf

So quarto auto detection for missing package does not help here - Quarto improvement ?

In the meantime, installing the package manually solves it.

Updating ACM #39 and doing

    \setmathfont[Scale=MatchUppercase]{LibertinusMath-Regular.otf}

is not helping - it seems there is an edge case with this font, that could require some handling in our auto detection
