Option to reuse last daily backup for weekly/monthly instead of new full dump #73
Description
Hi,
Weekly and monthly backups currently run a new full mysqldump, even though a full daily backup already exists. This causes long backup times and unnecessary CPU/IO load, especially with large databases.
Expected
Weekly and monthly backups should be able to reuse the latest daily backup instead of performing another full dump.
Proposal
Introduce config options such as:
- WEEKLY_USE_LAST_DAILY=yes
- MONTHLY_USE_LAST_DAILY=yes
This way, daily jobs still produce full dumps, while weekly/monthly simply copy/archive the latest daily.
Benefits
- Faster weekly/monthly runs
- Lower server load
- Avoids redundant dumps
