I'm Max, a software dev from Germany. I maintain libraries and mods / plugins for the Minecraft server software Spigot.

My interest in software development started many moons ago in 2017, back when I was 14 years old. I was running a small Minecraft server and wanted to learn how to add my own custom stuff. What started with simple Minecraft plugins developed into a general interest in everything software development related - from backend development to systems administration, I enjoy doing a bit of everything.

My niche interest is, of course, Minecraft modding - although you could argue that isn't that niche anymore. It's almost a bit of a specialization due to my extensive knowledge in the game's server internals, protocol specifications and ecosystem. I've been deeply fascinated with the game ever since I was a child, having played way too many hours on various platforms. While I don't really play Minecraft that much nowadays, I still really enjoy developing mods and plugins.

Shortly after completing a year of voluntary service for the German Red Cross, I found my first job as a software developer. A good friend of mine and I were hired by a small German Minecraft network and got tasked with upgrading the network from the 1.12.2 legacy version to the then newest version, 1.16.5. After a couple of months of developing the required infrastructure and updating lots of content we successfully deployed the new network, which was essentially a complete rewrite. Players loved it and I would continue to work there for a couple of years before moving on.

After many years of refining my skillset and knowledge I joined Hypixel Inc. as a SkyBlock developer. I still maintain various open source libraries and plugins, sometimes adding new ones to the ever growing list. Feel free to take a look around my profile!

Oh, something I forgot to mention: I have cats! Everyone loves cats. I post lots of cat pictures on my Mastodon account.
