How do I assign an item to a different group without moving the entire Category?

Hi there, I’ve encountered an issue when trying to edit group items.
When I attempt to select an item using CTRL + Click, sometimes two items get selected instead of just one.

Is there a way to prevent this behavior or a setting I might be missing?

Any chance you could take a screenshot? The only time multiple items should highlight on Ctrl+click Alt+click in Edit Mode is if they all have the same ID, so it would be helpful to see what’s happening. Thanks!

Um, so I just remembered that targeting an item instead of a Category is Alt+click, not Ctrl (which is also what the tooltip says, unless I’ve really bungled something). Can you try that instead?

If I use Alt+Click, it prompts me to create a new category for the item, and I can't add it to one of the default categories because they are read-only and not editable.

Yes, that's by design. 🙂 You have to create a new Category -- the Overriding built-in item categorization walkthrough might be helpful. (And if you look at Bagshui's layout hierarchy, you'll see that having multiple Categories assigned to one Group is perfectly fine -- expected, even.)

Did what you told me — at first it worked, since I created a category called “Others” and started adding items to it regardless of the bag group they were in... But now the problem is that every time I open WoW, I have to create a new category again because the existing ones don’t show up in the menu when I try to change the item, and I can’t add it to an already created category either.

I just re-tested to be absolutely sure there wasn't anything weird going on with custom Categories not saving properly, and everything looked good to me. Based on your description it's possible your WoW directory might be read-only? That's the only reason I can think that settings wouldn't save (other than hitting Alt+F4 instead of exiting the game properly).

It's also possible I'm not quite understanding the problem you're having -- in that case, could you provide:

• A copy of WTF\Account\<AccountName>\SavedVariables\Bagshui.lua
• Additional screenshots/videos, including:
  • The Categories (Bagshui menu > Categories) window showing your custom Category before and after restarting the game.
  • The steps you're taking when editing the Structure.
