How to get around using 'localhost' in a path in Macos / Safari

I'm trying to use the stand-alone with Safari on macos Monterey 12.4 but it strips the localhost path and breaks the ability to use
<script src="http://localhost:8098"></script> Does anyone know a workaround for this please?
