Welcome to the Spotify Streaming Insights (2010–2019) project — a comprehensive Excel-based analysis exploring the top songs and artists of the decade. This project uses Microsoft Excel to uncover trends in genre popularity, playlist influence, and platform dominance, all drawn from actual stream data.
This analysis seeks to answer the following key questions:
- Who were the most streamed artists and songs between 2010 and 2019?
- What genres performed best across the decade?
- How do playlist and chart appearances influence total stream counts?
- Which song features (e.g. mode, energy, danceability) are common among top-performers?
The dataset was obtained from DataCamp Workspace and includes:
- Song name, Artist, and Release Year
- Total Streams
- Chart and Playlist appearances across platforms
- Genre and song attributes (BPM, Energy, Mode, etc.)
This analysis was performed entirely in Microsoft Excel and includes:
