HealingColds

First submission to ProjectKorra's 5th Hackathon.

Overview

HealingColds is a Healing ability that functions as not only a utility ability, but a combat-effective ability as well that targets the maneuvering power of the target. Making use of the ancient techniques of waterbending healers during Avatar Kiyoshi's era, the ability to change the body temperature of a living being through redirection and manipulation of chi paths showcases the extraordinary capabilities of healing, as shown here.

This ability is designed to be a double-edged sword: while the rate of gradual damage is lessened, the target's movement speed is also reduced, making it a trade-off between healing and mobility. Not only that, but the target is unable to receive any health while they are in the "cold state".

Among the movement restrictions in the cold state are:

  • Slowness
  • Sprint disability
  • Flight disability (toggle and the Flight ability itself)
  • Significant decrease in knockback power of abilities (including self-push AirBlast)

Lastly, while the target is in the cold state and has reached a certain threshold of health (e.g., below 30% max health), the target's internal functions such as their heart and lungs may be immediately frozen if the user wishes (through right-click), resulting in instant death.
