Closing this PR as it has been superseded by #610 which includes comprehensive modernization (v0.7.0) with updated Android Gradle Plugin 8.10.1, Kotlin 2.1.0, SDK 35, and complete dependency updates. The modernization addresses the same build improvements plus extensive additional updates.
