Persepolis Download Manager 5.2.0

We are happy to announce the release of version 5.2.0 of Persepolis Download Manager.

This version includes several new features and important bugs have been fixed. Therefore, we strongly recommend all users to update to the new version.
Those who have kindly taken the responsibility of maintaining Persepolis for various distributions should note that some prerequisites for Persepolis have changed. Please visit this Persepolis wiki page before creating the Persepolis package.

Added Bundle for Linux Distributions

Users have often requested that Persepolis, like Windows and Mac, have a standalone version or a bundle for Linux distributions that can be downloaded and run with one click without worrying about installing prerequisites. This has happened in this version. You just need to download the Persepolis Linux bundle, make it executable if necessary, and easily run it with a double click. If you prefer this method, we recommend uninstalling previous versions before doing so. After the first run, the Persepolis bundle will automatically copy the .desktop file and the necessary icons to the required paths under the user's /home directory. It is important to note that we use nuitka to create the Persepolis Linux bundle, and for building for Mac and Windows, we use pyinstaller. The build process is fully automated and done via GitHub actions. Check out the automatic build repository.
We still welcome any one who are interested in creating and maintaining the Persepolis package for a distribution.

Persepolis Video finder has been improved.

• Nowadays, many video sharing sites use the m3u8. The Persepolis Video Downloader had issues downloading from some of these sites. This issue has been improved.

• In the new version of Persepolis, when you use the Persepolis Video Finder, the video thumbnail will be displayed for you, and the highest quality version will be automatically selected for download. However, you can choose lower quality versions if you wish.

You can install Persepolis on FreeBSD and its derived distributions.

Running Persepolis on FreeBSD and its derivatives had some issues. These issues have been resolved. Persepolis does not have an official package for FreeBSD, and the version available in the official FreeBSD repositories is very old. If anyone is interested in maintaining this package for the official FreeBSD repositories, we welcome it. This link provides installation instructions for Persepolis on FreeBSD.

New styles have been added or modified for different operating systems.

• In Linux distributions and FreeBSD derivatives, by installing the Breeze package, the appearance of Persepolis will be aligned with GTK+ and QT desktops. If you are using the PySide6 version of Persepolis, we highly recommend installing the Breeze package on your operating system. We also kindly ask the respected maintainers to add this package to the prerequisites of Persepolis. This package is available in the Debian repositories as kde-style-breeze and in Arch Linux repositories as breeze, in the Fedora repositories as plasma-breeze, and in the openSUSE repositories as breeze6. By installing this package and selecting the breeze style from the Persepolis settings window, the appearance of Persepolis will be reasonably aligned with your desktop. For example, the image below shows Persepolis on the Mate desktop env. .

The Breeze style is not available for the Persepolis Linux bundle.

• The Windows 11 style has also been added for Windows users.

• The Fusion style of Persepolis, which is available for the Persepolis Linux bundle and all operating systems, has been redesigned using the BreezeStyleSheets project.

New notification sounds have been created for Persepolis.

Persepolis uses new notification sounds on Linux, FreeBSD, and Mac operating systems. These notification sounds are created with a setar(a Persian instrument). Therefore, there is no need to install the sound-theme-freedesktop package for Linux and FreeBSD distributions, and it should be removed from the prerequisites.

Many bugs have been fixed.

• In previous versions of Persepolis, long downloads encountered a Read timed out error, and the user had to resume the download. This issue has been improved.
• Persepolis used to occupy a large amount of user RAM when downloading large files. This issue has been resolved.
• Persepolis had issues downloading files of unknown size. This issue has been fixed.
• New downloads sometimes caused overwriting of incomplete downloads with the same file name. This issue has been resolved.
• The issue with the video finder not working on the Windows operating system has been fixed.

Important Information for Ubuntu and Debian Users

Users of Ubuntu 24.04 or older versions of Ubuntu and users of Debian Bookworm or older versions of Debian should either use the Persepolis Linux bundle or install Persepolis from source following this guide. Users of Ubuntu 25.04 or newer versions of Ubuntu and users of Debian Trixie and newer versions of Debian can install Persepolis from the Launchpad repository as before or use the .deb file provided on this page for installation.

در این نسخه چند قابلیت جدید اضافه شده و باگ‌های مهمی حل شده است. برای همین به همه‌ی کاربران بسیار توصیه می‌کنیم که به نسخه جدید برزورسانی کنند.
کسانی که لطف کردند و قبول زحمت کردند و نگهداری پرسپولیس را برای توزیع‌های مختلف به عهده دارند، دقت کنند که بعضی پیش‌نیازهای پرسپولیس تغییر کرده است. لطفا قبل از ساختن بسته پرسپولیس، سری به این صفحه از ویکی پرسپولیس بزنند.

اضافه شدن باندل برای توزیع‌های لینوکسی

بسیار پیش می‌آمد که کاربران درخواست داشتند که پرسپولیس مانند ویندوز و مک، برای توزیع‌‌های لینوکسی هم یک نسخه stand alone یا یک باندل داشته باشد که کاربر آن را دانلود و بدون نگرانی از نصب پیش‌نیازها با یک کلیک اجرا کند. این اتفاق در این نسخه افتاده است. شما کافی است که باندل لینوکس پرسپولیس را دانلود کنید و در صورت لزوم به آن قابلیت اجرایی دهید و به راحتی با یک دابل کلیک آن را اجرا کنید. اگر به این شکل تمایل دارید توصیه می‌کنیم قبل از این کار نسخه‌های قبلی را از نصب خارج کنید. باندل پرسپولیس بعد از اولین اجرا به شکل خودکار فایل .desktop و آیکون‌های مورد نیاز را در مسیر‌های مورد نیاز در زیر شاخه /home کاربر کپی می‌کند. ذکر این نکته ضروری است که برای ساختن باندل لینوکس پرسپولیس از nuitka استفاده می‌کنیم و برای بیلد گرفتن برای مک و ویندوز از pyinstaller استفاده می‌کنیم, فرآیند بیلد گرفتن کاملا خودکار و به وسیله Github actions انجام می‌شود. مخزن بیلد خودکار پرسپولیس را ببینید.

ویدیویاب پرسپولیس ارتقا پیدا کرده است.

• امروزه سایت‌های ویدیویی بیشتری به سمت استفاده از m3u8 رفتند. ویدیویاب پرسپولیس برای دانلود از بعضی از این سایت‌ها دچار مشکل بود. این مشکل بهبود پیدا کرده است.

• در نسخه جدید پرسپولیس وقتی از ویدیویاب پرسپولیس استفاده می‌کنید، تصویر Thumbnail ویدیو برای شما نمایش داده می‌شود و به شکل خودکار با کیفیت‌ترین نسخه برای دانلود مشخص می‌شود. البته شما در صورت تمایل می‌توانید نسخه‌های با کیفیت کمتر را انتخاب کنید.

پرسپولیس را می‌توانید روی FreeBSD و توزیع‌های مشتق شده از آن نصب کنید.

Persepolis Download Manager 5.1.1

We are happy to announce the release of Persepolis Download Manager 5.1.1.

In this version, several important bugs have been fixed:

1. The program would crash when the headers were not received from the server. This bug has been fixed.
2. Occasionally, image files would become corrupted during downloads. This issue has been resolved.
3. Users of the Mate and XFCE desktop environments experienced a problem where the downloaded file would not be highlighted when clicking the "Open Folder" button at the end of the download. This bug has been fixed.

New version of persepolis_lib has been released today.

Persepolis Download Manager 5.1.0

We are happy to announce the release of Persepolis Download Manager 5.1.0.

1. A new feature has been added to Persepolis. Persepolis can download files that have an unspecified size. Such as GitHub zip files and... .

2. The log window has been redesigned to make it easier to check error messages.

3. The installation prerequisites for Linux and BSD have changed. libnotify(libnotify-bin) and pulseaudio have been removed from the prerequisites and python3-dasbus‍(python-dasbus‍) has been added. Note that yt-dlp, ffmpeg and python3-dasbus‍ are optional prerequisites. Please check the installation dependencies on the Persepolis Wiki for more information.

۱- پرسپولیس دیگر می‌تواند فایل‌هایی را که حجم آن‌ها در headers مشخص نیست دانلود کند. این قابلیت در دانلود فایل‌های زیپ از گیت‌هاب و ... مفید است.
۲- پنجره لاگ باز طراحی شده است تا یافتن خطاها ساده‌تر باشد.
۳- پیش‌نیازهای نصب تغییر کرده است. libnotify(libnotify-bin) و pulseaudio از پیش‌نیازهای نصب حذف شدند و python3-dasbus‍(python-dasbus‍) به پیش‌نیازهای نصب اضافه شده است. البته همانطور که در ویکی پرسپولیس اشاره کردیم yt-dlp, ffmpeg و python3-dasbus‍ پیش‌نیازهای اختیاری هستند. برای اطلاعات بیشتر ویکی پرسپولیس را ببینید.

شاید! در بعضی توزیع‌ها مشکلات دانلود با استفاده از پروکسی‌های ساکس۵ مربوط به نصب نبودن بسته python3-pysocks باشد. کاملا مطمئن نیستم!

Persepolis Download Manager 5.0.0

We are happy to announce the release of Persepolis Download Manager 5.0.0.

The biggest change of this version is that we removed Aria2 and wrote the codes of the downloader section ourselves. Persepolis is no longer a graphical interface for Aria2. it is an independent download manager. The Persepolis downloader part (Persepolis_lib) has been released as a separate Python library in this repository to help other Python projects.
Why we replaced Aria2 with Persepolis_lib? Recently we had problems with Aria2:

• Users had requested that the number of download connections be increased from 16, but Aria2 did not support more than 16 connections.

• Aria2 does not support Socks5.

• Persepolis communicated with Aria2 through xml rpc. Sometimes Aria2 crashed during communication and it was not easy to solve the problem.
  Persepolis_lib supports 64 connections for downloading. Persepolis_lib supports Sock5 and HTTP proxies. Because Persepolis_lib is written by Python Requests, it no longer needs xml rpc. Pay attention that you can download HTTP and HTTPS links with Persepolis.

Of course, we respect the Aria 2 project and believe that it is very valuable.

In this version, we have fixed some bugs reported by users. Also, dark fusion and light fusion styles were redesigned for this version. Thanks to the qt-material project.

Pay attention please:

1. Please note that the prerequisites for the installation have changed and become less.

2. Be sure to finish your half-finished downloads before installing the new version.

3. We recommend Windows users to uninstall the old version before installing the new version.

4. Great news for Debin users! PySide 6 has entered the Debin repositories. If you are a Debian sid user, you can install package libpyside6-py3-6.6 instead of package python3-pyqt5.

بزرگترین تغییر این نسخه این است که آریا ۲ را حذف کردیم و کدهای قسمت دانلودر را خودمان نوشته ایم. پرسپولیس دیگر یک رابط گرافیکی برای آریا۲ نیست بلکه یک دانلود منجر مستقل است. قسمت دانلودر پرسپولیس با نام persepolis_lib به شکل یک کتابخانه پایتون مجزا در این مخزن منتشر شده است تا به دیگر پروژه های پایتونی کمک کند.
چرا آریا ۲ را با persepolis_lib جایگزین کردیم؟ اخیرا مشکلاتی با آریا۲ داشتیم.

• کاربران درخواست داده بودند بود که تعداد کانکشن های دانلود از ۱۶ تا بیشتر شود ولی آریا ۲ بیشتر از ۱۶ کانکشن همزمان را ساپورت نمی کرد.

• آریا۲ از Socks5 پشتیبانی نمی کند.

• پرسپولیس به وسیله xml rpc با آریا۲ ارتباط برقرار می کرد. گاهی حین ارتباط آریا۲ کرش میکرد و حل مشکل ساده نبود.

پرسپولیس لیب از ۶۴ کانکشن برای دانلود پشتیبانی می‌کند. persepolis_lib از پروکسی های Socks5 و Http پشتیبانی می‌کند. چون persepolis_lib به وسیله python requests نوشته شده دیگر نیازی به xml rpc ندارد. دقت کنید که می‌توانید لینک‌های http و https را با پرسپولیس دانلود کنید.
البته بسیار پروژه آریا۲ را ارج می‌نهیم و اعتقاد داریم که بسیار ارزشمند است.
در این نسخه بعضی از باگهایی که کاربران اطلاع داده بودند را رفع کردیم. همچنین برای این نسخه استایل‌های Dark fusion و لLight fusion بازطراحی شدند. با تشکر از پروژه qt-material

نکات مهم:

۱. لطفا دقت کنید که پیش نیازهای نصب تغییر کردند و کمتر شدند.

۲. قبل از نصب نسخه جدید حتما دانلودهای نیمه‌تمام خود را به پایان برسانید.

۳. به کاربران ویندوز توصیه می‌کنیم که قبل از نصب نسخه جدید، نسخه قدیمی را از نصب خارج کنند.

۴. یک خبر عالی برای کاربران دبین! پایساید ۶ وارد مخازن دبین شده است. اگر کاربر دبین سید هستید، می‌توانید به جای بسته python3-pyqt5 بسته libpyside6-py3-6.6 را نصب کنید.

Persepolis Download Manager 4.3.0

We are happy to announce the release of Persepolis Download Manager 4.3.0.

1. In the previous versions, when the user sent a new link to Persepolis by the browser extension, the add link window was displayed and the download started after the user's confirmation. In this version, user can remove the step of showing the add link window and after sending the link by the browser extension, the download will start immediately. This feature is disabled by default. To enable this feature, open the Preferences window from the Edit menu. Check the last check box from the preferences tab. Please note that in this case, the download will start with the default values (without proxy, etc.). If you want to set proxy or set download start and end time, etc., you should disable this feature.

2. There was a bug in the Windows version of Persepolis. The program did not apply the changes after clicking the OK button in the preferences window. This bug has been fixed.

3. In operating systems where PySide6 is not available in their repositories (for example, Debian), Persepolis uses PyQ5 to run. After running Persepolis with PyQt5, this error was displayed in the terminal: "Attribute Qt::AA_EnableHighDpiScaling must be set before QCoreApplication is created."
   This bug has been fixed.
   PySide6 is the official Python module from the Qt for Python project and unfortunately It is not available in Debian repositories. PyQt6 is unofficial and it is available in Debian repositories. I hope PySide6 will be available in Debian distribution.

۱. در نسخه‌های قبل وقتی کاربر لینک جدیدی را با افزونه مرورگر به پرسپولیس میفرستاد، پنجره اضافه کردن لینک نمایش داده می‌شد و بعد از تایید کاربر دانلود آغاز می‌شد. در این نسخه کاربر می‌تواند مرحله نشان داده شدن پنجره اضافه کردن لینک را حذف کند و پس از ارسال لینک به وسیله افزونه، دانلود بلافاصله آغاز شود. این قابلیت به شکل پیش‌فرض غیرفعال است. برای فعال کردن این قابلیت، از منوی ویرایش پنجره ترجیحات را باز کنید. از زبانه ترجیحات گزینه آخر را تیک بزنید. دقت کنید که در این حالت دانلود با وضعیت پیش‌فرض(بدون پروکسی و ...) آغاز خواهد شد. اگر می‌خواهید اطلاعات پروکسی را وارد کنید یا زمان آغاز و پایان دانلود و ... را تنظیم کنید، باید این قابلیت را غیرفعال کنید.

۲. یک باگ در نسخه ویندوز پرسپولیس وجود داشت. برنامه بعد از زدن دکمه تایید در پنجره ترجیحات، تغییرات را اعمال نمی‌کرد. این باگ تصحیح شده است.
۳. پرسپولیس برای اجرا به پای‌ساید۶ نیاز دارد. در توزیع‌هایی که پای‌ساید۶ در آنها موجود نیست(مانند دبین)، پرسپولیس از پای‌کیوت۵ استفاده می‌کند. هنگام اجرای پرسپولیس با پای‌کیوت۵ این پیغام خطا در ترمینال نمایش داده می‌شد:
Attribute Qt::AA_EnableHighDpiScaling must be set before QCoreApplication is created.
این باگ تصحیح شده است. پای‌ساید۶ نسخه رسمی کیوت برای پایتون است و متاسفانه هنوز وارد مخازن دبین نشده. ولی پای‌کیوت۶ که نسخه غیر رسمی است در مخازن دبین موجود است. امیدوارم پای‌ساید۶ هم در مخازن دبین موجود شود.

Persepolis Download Manager 4.2.0

We are happy to announce the release of Persepolis Download Manager 4.2.0.

In this version:

1. You can import link(s) from clipboard. Copy your link(s) and select "import links from clipboard" from file menu. You can also use the system tray icon context menu as well.

2. Also, Persepolis can automatically detect links in the clipboard. This feature is not active by default. You can enable this feature from the preferences window(Edit > Preferences > Preferences tab > check system clipboard for copied links). Persepolis can check the clipboard only when the main window is displayed.

Of course, our advice is to use Persepolis browser extension instead of copying the link from the browser. Please checkout this link for more information.

3. not finding the file name when adding a link is fixed.
4. Translations are updated.

۱. شما می‌توانید از کلیپ‌بورد سیستم لینک‌های خود را به پرسپولیس بدهید. برای این کار لینک یا لینک‌های خود را کپی کنید، بعد از منوی پرونده گزینه «افزودن پیوندها از کلیپ‌بورد» را انتخاب کنید. شما همچنین می‌توانید از منوی سینی نمایه هم برای این هدف استفاده کنید.

۲. پرسپولیس می‌تواند کلیپ‌بورد سیستم را به شکل خودکار برای لینک‌های کپی شده چک کند. این قابلیت به شکل پیش‌فرض غیرفعال است. شما می‌توانید آن را از پنجره شخصی‌سازی(Preferences) فعال کنید(ویرایش > شخصی‌سازی > زبانه شخصی سازی > بررسی کلیپ‌بورد برای پیونده‌های کپی شده ). دقت کنید که پرسپولیس وقتی می‌تواند به شکل خودکار کلیپ‌بورد را چک کند که پنجره اصلی برنامه در حال نمایش باشد.

البته توصیه ما این است که به جای کپی کردن لینک‌ها از مرورگر از افزونه مرورگر پرسپولیس استفاده کنید. برای اطلاعات بیشتر این لینک را بخوانید.

۳. مشکل پیدا کردن نام فایل‌ها بعد از اضافه شده لینک بهبود پیدا کرده است.

Persepolis Download Manager 4.0.1

We are happy to announce the release of Persepolis Download Manager 4.0.1.

In this version:

1. Python setuptools is replaced by meson. so installation instructions are changed. please checkout this link for more information. psyide6 is now available in ArchLinux and Fedora repositories. If pyside6 is not available in your distribution, you can install pyqt5.

2. Some bugs are fixed. Please checkout this link for more information.

3. New translations are added. If you are interested to translate Persepolis Download Manager to your language, Please checkout this link
