The release of GIMP 3.0 on March 16, 2025, changed the internals of many Scheme procedures and broke plugins developed for earlier GIMP versions. As a result, the image generation script now throws an error. You can still use the script if you downgrade your GIMP version to 2.10, and in any case, high-resolution samples remain available. This repository is no longer maintained.

spacepaper

Spacepaper is a set of space-themed wallpapers based on Simon Lee's Pantone Planet series. The original images, covered by the Unsplash license, are available at the following links:

• Venus
• Jupiter
• Mars
• Neptune
• Uranus
• Saturn
• Earth

Usage

The image generation script requires GIMP 2.10. Wallpapers can be generated from any of the images above by running spacepaper.sh and specifying the desired width and height in pixels, as in the following examples:

bash spacepaper.sh 375 812 moon
bash spacepaper.sh 768 1024 earth
bash spacepaper.sh 3072 1920 jupiter

It is also possible to generate wallpapers for all of the images at once by omitting the last argument, as in bash spacepaper.sh 4096 2304. The generated images are saved to the output folder in PNG format.

For convenience, pre-generated images for some common display sizes are included in the samples folder.
